Race Details

Race Schedule Copies of the Race Schedule will be available to team captains approximately one week prior to the event.
Race Dates The 2001 Essex County Dragon Boat Festival races will take place on: Saturday, May 12th, 2001
Race Location All Dragon Boat races will be held at the LaSalle Rowing Club

 

Dragon Boat Tid Bit - LINGO

Freeboard - The distance between the waterline and the upper edge of the side of the boat. A loss of freeboard is the most common reason for a dragon boat to sink.

Race Format

The Essex County Dragon Boat Festival race course is unconfirmed to date. The course will be 500 metres long.

There will be 3 dragon boats racing in each heat. Each heat will last between 2 minutes to 2 minutes and 50 seconds.

The course is 500 metres long.
The race start line will be announced.
The race finish line will be 500 metres downstream.

To ensure maximum team safety additional Steerperson Training is required for all steerpeople. The Dragon Boats are heavy and long. Special training is given to maximize the efforts given by all teams.
